Alberta Healthy Living Program nutrition criteria

Effective Aug. 18, the Alberta Healthy Living Program (AHLP) – Calgary Zone is accepting patient self-referrals for dietitian counselling.

Adults in the Calgary Zone can call 1.844.527.1160 to self-refer for nutrition counselling services from AHLP – Calgary Zone for:

• Altered digestive function (e.g., celiac disease, short bowel syndrome, diverticular disease, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease)
• Liver concerns (e.g., fatty liver, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis)
• Malnutrition

Previously, patients needed a referral from a healthcare provider for one-on-one appointments.

That is no longer necessary, but referrals from primary care providers will continue to be accepted.

In addition, patients are no longer required to attend a group health education class prior to booking an appointment.
