Dr. Amanda Wang brings a background in non-profit and medical leadership to the Board from her work with our Membership & External Relations Committee, the U of C Department of Family Medicine Academic Team, CFPC Procedural Skills Working Group, and more. A physician at Oak Bay Medical Centre, she wants to continue making our PCN a strong resource for members and patients. Dr. Wang is Chair of the Board.

Dr. Ashley Humeniuk has a special passion for working with senior populations and vulnerable Calgarians being that her medical home is with the Alex Seniors Health Centre. She looks forward to collaborating with team members to strategize and implement ideas that support our physician members and the PCN as a whole. Coming from a background in public health where she worked in various leadership roles, Dr. Humeniuk brings broad experience in stakeholder facilitation, committee leadership, and strategy development to the Board. Dr. Humeniuk is the Vice-Chair of the Board.

Tim Rose is a finance professional (Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified General Accountant) who brings more than 25 years of finance, accounting, and risk management experience to the Board. An experienced leader, he has strong interpersonal skills and a background in not-for-profit governance with multiple organizations. As a Board member, Mr. Rose is committed to ensuring the continued strength of the organization while responding to the changing social and economic environment. An External Director, Mr. Rose is the Treasurer of the Board.

Dr. Jennifer Bikow’s passion for primary care and commitment to my patients and community led her to run for the Board. As a Physician Director, she plans to collaborate with team members to improve the quality of primary care in our community by identifying areas of need as well as promoting the Patient’s Medical Homes. Currently practicing out of Medical Express, she has experience in primary care, assisted living practices, and as a preceptor. Dr. Bikow brings strengths in communication, collaboration, and problem-solving to the Board and experience as a member of several committees during her medical training.

Dr. Sameena Khan brings experience from her work in many different environments as a family physician in Calgary — including community practice, student health, and hospitalist work at Rockyview General Hospital — to the Board. She currently works at the University of Calgary’s Student Wellness Centre. Dr. Khan is interested in diversifying her work portfolio while learning more about our PCN as an integral part of primary care in Alberta.

Dr. Mileva Stojanovic gained valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing primary care and our physician community in her first term on our Board. In her second term, she plans to continue to contribute through her experience, collaborative approach, and commitment to strong governance to strengthen our PCN and improve care for the communities we serve. A family physician for more than a decade, she completed the U of A’s family medicine residency program and now practices at Discovery Ridge Medical.

Dr. Michael Yosefi ran for the Board to re-engage in leadership and support initiatives that strengthen both physician practices and patient care. He brings experience from helping implement our Dietitian Program and leading quality improvement projects in his clinic, Oak Bay Medical Centre, to boost screening rates and streamline clinic efficiency. He brings leadership experience, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to practical, member-focused solutions to the Board.

Karen Sharp has a background in strategy and business planning, both in management and consulting, during a career of over 35 years. She holds a 2005 doctorate in management (finance). Karen’s favourite assignments have brought consensus to planning through structure, creativity, metrics, and some innovative risk-based solutions. She is experienced in energy regulation (e.g., complex toll decisions, compliance systems, and cost management) and is an experienced board member. Her consulting and volunteer work has included many governance and policy assignments. After spending 2017-24 on the board of another PCN, Karen decided that it was time for a change.

Andrea Atkins is a senior healthcare leader with more than 25 years of experience in organizational leadership, board governance, human resources, and system transformation. As Senior Program Director with Primary Care Alberta, she leads provincial initiatives supporting the transformation of Alberta’s primary care system, including organizational design, stakeholder engagement, workforce transition, and change management. Previously, Andrea served as Executive Director of the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network, where she provided strategic and operational leadership for a $26-million organization serving more than 400,000 patients. She has extensive experience working with and advising Boards of Directors on governance, strategy, policy development, risk management, executive leadership, and organizational performance. A Prosci Certified Change Practitioner and experienced facilitator, Andrea is recognized for building strong relationships, developing high-performing teams, and guiding organizations through complex change. She holds an MBA and a BA in Psychology from the University of Alberta and is passionate about strengthening governance, inspiring leaders, and creating sustainable organizational success.

Lesley Myles is currently an Executive Director for the Calgary Zone Seniors, Palliative, and Continuing Care Portfolio with AHS and leveraging her years of progressive clinical and operational experience within the community and continuing care system. Originally graduating from the University of Stirling, Scotland, with a sociology degree, Lesley immediately switched career paths and studied to become a Registered Nurse. Her 20-year frontline nursing career spanned Scotland, Libya, and Canada, providing her a broad and varied experience. She transitioned to progressive leadership positions — first with the Calgary Zone Home Care Program in 2009, and then transferred to Carewest administration in 2016. During this time, she completed a master’s in leadership at Royal Roads University and a fellowship in health system improvement at the University of Alberta.

Jennifer Salt is a strategic healthcare leader with over 20 years of experience in clinical operations, patient safety, and quality improvement. As Director of Integrated Home Care in the Calgary Zone, she leads complex system transformation initiatives, including Connect Care implementation, home care contract transitions, and pandemic response. Known for her collaborative and steady leadership style, Jennifer advances initiatives that strengthen quality, patient flow, and integrated care delivery. She holds a Master of Nursing in Leadership from the University of Alberta and is a Registered Nurse with certifications in patient safety, change management, and quality improvement. Jennifer is completing a Fellowship with the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health and will obtain her Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation at the end of June. She is a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
