’Tis the season to brush up on our Access Appointment Service

Dec 1, 2025

You can’t see patients 365 days a year, but our Access Appointment Service can.

Please help our team ahead of the expected seasonal rush of referrals by:

  • Refreshing yourself on the inclusion-exclusion criteria to make appropriate referrals
  • Providing concise but detailed information pertinent to the referral reason on the referral form, including the date of symptom onset if relevant
  • Sharing this information with your clinic staff if they refer on your behalf

Our Access Appointment Service supports your patients with an appointment when they need medical care within 24 hours, but you cannot see them, and:

  • Faxes a summary of the visit to you after the appointment for continuity
  • Acts as an alternative to walk-in clinics, urgent care, and the emergency department (for non-emergency needs)
  • Operates every day of the year

A patient’s family physician is the best option in most cases, but they can’t always be available. So our Access Appointment Service offers a temporary support.

It is not intended as a repeat, ongoing, or long-term option.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays (upcoming Christmas Day on Thursday, Dec. 25, Boxing Day on Friday, Dec. 26, and New Year’s Day on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026).

Criteria reminder: The program’s inclusion-exclusion criteria were informed by physicians and our Medical Director to provide a list of common appropriate and inappropriate referrals.
