Our Mental Health Program provides crucial support to your patients through community support connections, self-management resources, and no-cost counselling services with our Primary Care Registered Psychologists (PCRPs).
In December 2025, we invited physician members to provide feedback on the value our PCRPs deliver to patients and how that value impacts clinical work.
After conducting interviews with 16 members, we heard excellent feedback regarding the benefits our PCRPs provide:
- Accessibility: Participants were thankful for our ability to provide accessible and equitable psychological care. Members noted that patients greatly benefit from quick, no-cost access to PCRP support, as many other programs have long wait times or an associated cost.
- Integration: Participants greatly appreciated the collaborative nature of our Mental Health Program, with the opportunity to receive updates from the PCRP caring for their patient. This is not always possible with other services and allows for increased trust between providers and their patients.
- Communication: Participants noted the benefits of integrating PCRPs into their Patient’s Medical Home (PMH) teams, as it allows for stronger communication when co-managing patient concerns.
This feedback gathering also allowed us to identify some areas for improvement:
- Respondents indicated a desire for more information relating to our after-hours PCRP support and the process that is followed when a patient selects an evening or weekend appointment.
- Some physicians requested further details relating to the tools used by our PCRPs to assess patients.
To support these areas, we will develop further communications to provide more insight into the program.
We are very happy with these results and will use the feedback gathered to continuously improve this highly utilized program.
