Community partner spotlight: FearIsNotLove

FearIsNotLove is an organization working to build communities free from domestic violence and abuse.

They provide programs for anyone impacted by abuse, those choosing to change harmful behaviours, and those supporting a loved one:

  • Connect Domestic Violence and Abuse Helpline with counsellors available 24 hours a day who provide counselling, safety planning, referrals, and information in multiple languages.
  • Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter for women and their children fleeing domestic violence and abuse.
  • Community Services offers short-term, crisis-focused support for individuals who have experienced domestic violence.
  • Court Program provides navigation of the family law system and support for individuals who have or are currently experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
  • Child, Youth, and Family Therapy provides support and counselling to children and their family members who have experienced domestic violence and abuse.
  • Healthy Relationships Program is a preventative program focused on building healthier relationships through educational groups and individual therapy for youth 12 and up.
  • Men’s Counselling Service offers voluntary individual therapy sessions and group counselling services to adults interested in addressing their hurtful, controlling, or abusive behaviours and the problems this has caused.

Eligibility: Programs are available to individuals of all ages and genders in Calgary and surrounding areas who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

  • Online chat is also available Monday – Friday (8 a.m. – 10 p.m.) on fearisnotlove.ca.
