The Calgary Silver Linings Foundation has added new programs and revised an existing service to support people impacted by eating disorders since our original spotlight article:
- Recovery navigation (new): A one-on-one clinician-led service, this program helps people create a personalized roadmap for eating disorder recovery.
- Live-in treatment (new): In partnership with the EHN Sandstone live-in recovery centre, this program offers a safe, home-like environment with a dedicated team of clinicians providing personalized, around-the-clock care to support lasting recovery.
- Groups and workshops (revised): Led by experienced clinicians, short workshops or multi-week groups offer expert guidance to help reduce isolation, build coping skills, and offer valuable insights at any stage of recovery.
- Peer support: In this program, mentors who have successfully navigated their own recovery are matched with mentees for one-on-one support.
Eligibility: The foundation offers programs to anyone impacted by eating disorders, including support groups for people caring for someone with an eating disorder.
But there are additional requirements for some programs:
- Live-in treatment is for people recovering from eating disorders aged 12 – 24 who need intensive support but do not meet hospitalization requirements or are transitioning out of hospital care.
- Peer support is for Canadians aged 15 and older and requires mentees to be actively receiving or seeking out professional treatment from a registered therapist and/or dietitian.
Access: Anyone can book a recovery navigation appointment, register for groups, or request more information on their website.
For live-in treatment, there is a referral form for healthcare providers, or their recovery navigation program can work with individuals to make a referral.
