The Women’s Centre of Calgary has been a space for women and girls to get assistance, connect with others, and work for change for nearly 30 years.
The centre’s free, supportive programming includes:
- Basic needs support for women who need basic needs support, community resources, personal care products, and feminine hygiene products.
- Girls Programs where girls, Two Spirit, trans, and non-binary children and youth have a safe space to share their knowledge of leadership, activism, and community building.
- Legal advice clinics where lawyers volunteer to provide legal advice on family issues, civil cases, immigration, crime, and other issues.
- Workshops on topics like computer skills, self-defence, stress management, reconciliation, car maintenance, and more.
- Drop-in service hours with peer support staff and a dedicated crisis navigation specialist.
Eligibility:
- Girls Programs are for girls and gender-diverse youth, Grades 4 – 12.
- All other programs are open to women ages 18-plus.
Access: The centre’s drop-in services do not require registration, but all other programs do.
