BBFE enhancements

Jan 9, 2026

While rare for our teams, blood or body fluid incidents are serious and require a robust response.

So we have enhanced our protocol for blood and body fluid exposure (BBFE) and related resources to:

  • Support our teams, the Primary Care Centre, and physician members in case of an unlikely but stressful incident happens to one of our people
  • More thoroughly support home visits and our team members during regular hours and after hours
  • Incorporate source patient risk screening and lab testing

Our updated BBFE resources are available on cwcpcndocs.com. (Please review the updates, which could also serve as guidance to inform changes to your clinic’s own, separate processes.)

They will be sent to clinics with assigned PMH staff during the coming binder update and added to home visit binders and the binder in the Primary Care Centre.

Most critically, our managers are trained and ready to support our team members and physician members in case of a BBFE involving our people at your clinic.

Our teams know to call their manager for support immediately after taking care of themselves in case of an incident.

While our workforce is primarily remote, we are committed to supporting the shared responsibility with clinics for a suitable work environment for our team members through improvements like this one.

Please contact your Physician Liaison if you have any questions.
